As the migration from linear, broadcast TV to on-demand TV accelerates, the pressure on the networks will accelerate. Both on the Internet side and the TV side, the number of unicast streams (Internet streaming and VOD/NPVR streaming) will grow substantially, and with them the cost. Operators must adopt a new approach to content delivery to scale the delivery of content while leveraging the proven user experience of the PVR and the dropping cost of storage.
